Memorial Hand Casting
A lasting tribute.
This process captures every intricate detail of the hands - each crease, contour and texture - creating a life-like three-dimensional sculpture. Memorial casting is a deeply personal and artistic way to capture the final moments of a loved one. These heartfelt keepsakes serve as tangible reminders of love and connection to be cherished as personal mementos.
Memorial casting offers immense comfort to families navigating the many stages of grief. That's why we provide memorial and end of life castings, helping to bring peace during those difficult times. Over the years we’ve had the honour of creating memorial castings for families to help during bereavement.
Life can be unpredictable, and it can change in an instant. This is why we prioritise our memorial services to ensure moulds are taken in a timely and sensitive manner. We work closely with funeral directors, hospitals and hospices to handle your loved ones with the utmost care and compassion. We feel incredibly blessed to provide families with a sentimental sculpture that holds the memory of their loved one, a tangible piece that can be treasured for generations.
The Process
The process begins with the careful preparation of high-quality alginate moulding material, for its ability to capture every intricate detail.
Each hand is gently and precisely positioned ensuring details are perfectly preserved. As the alginate sets, it solidifies into a detailed impression of the hands. Once fully cured, a durable replica is created using stone plaster, resulting in a sculpture that mirrors the shape, texture and unique characteristics of the hands.
Each memorial cast can be added to a display plinth with an engraving to add personalisation.

CASTING
A special way to create a lasting tribute that the family can cherish during bereavement.
Preserve your loved ones hands to forever hold after they have passed away.
We create hand castings.
Family members' hands can be added to your loved one's hands.
We use Alginate, a safe, skin-friendly material derived from seaweed. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, and gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin, including babies and pets.
No, it is completely non-invasive and painless. We use safe and quick-setting alginate which is gentle on skin.
The process usually takes up to 60-90 minutes depending on how many casts are taken. The alginate sets once mixed within 90 seconds and the mould is afterwards taken with us to be filled with plaster.
Yes, rings can be worn and captured with your castings, be it engagement, wedding, family inheritance jewellery and/or costume jewels. (1 complimentary ring per adult hand, additional charges apply for extra rings worn during casts).
Overlay casting technique using alginate involves applying the material directly to the body part instead of the material being held in a container. This method allows greater precision and flexibility in positioning. We use this method for our Belly Bowls, Body and Memorial casts.
To keep your plaster sculptures in excellent condition follow these tips:
1. Keep away from moisture. Display in a dry area away from humidity.
2. Handle with care. Handle gently and avoid placing it in ‘high-traffic’ areas.
3. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth or feather duster to clean. Avoid water and cleaning sprays.
4. Avoid direct sunlight.
5.Repair minor damage promptly. Do not hesitate to be in touch for professional assistance to restore any sculptures.
